DEAR WORKING PROFESSIONALS: WE SHOULD BE COACHABLE IF WE ARE TO IMPROVE OUR PERSONALFINANCES

 Why is it that there are some working professionals who earn thrice what we earn? I believe with an intentional focus we can learn some clues from their journey and change our financial outcomes. Many times as working professionals we tend to stay in our comfort zone instead of exploring other means of widening our income. It is said that if we keep on doing the same things we shall always realize the same results.

Today there are so many alternatives to life long learning. There are countless financial literacy programs that target individuals at work. These programs are meant to help us grow in the use of or finances and prepare for the uncertain future. The future is so unpredictable that it should be a signal to us never to be comfortable. I have seen many successful people seek mentorship from more successful working professionals. They do not allow to walk without guidance. This starts from developing a coachable or teachable attitude. No body knows it all in life and it is a wise move for us to humble ourselves and learn from those ahead of us. 

I have realized that whenever I meet one of my mentors the words they speak to me encourage me to evaluate my actions. It is very easy to be making financial mistakes and without a third eye we can end up in financial depression. Many working professionals have made financial mistakes simply because they ignored guidance from their superiors. I believe that right from family level we should be humble enough to seek guidance from mentors and coaches on how to improve our financial decisions.

HOW TO IMPROVE OUR FINANCES.

1.Have a long term financial vision

2.Develop a teachable or coachable attitude

3. Embrace life long learning.

Each of us has the potential to widen their income base. However we need to embrace life long learning and seek mentorship and coaching.

 I remember during the Trainer of Trainers training conducted by Bank of Uganda we were encouraged to develop a savings plan. This was a key development because without a plan we may live in financial darkness.
