ACRE OF DIAMONDS

According to Dr. Dennis Kimbro in his book Think And Grow Rich  every human being is an acre of diamonds. In simple terms we have more potential than we can imagine. With adequate self reflection this statement can change any person's life. It is Dr. Myles Munroe who noted that without knowing our purpose on earth we are likely to lead a less impactful life. The question that has been asked by many leading scholars is why are some people more successful than others? Is it family background? Is it luck? Is it the country where they were born? Unfortunately no body has a clear answer to this contradicting question. Hellen Keller was born blind but by the time of her death she was a very successful leader. Oprah Winfrey had a tough childhood but is now one of the most influential leaders in the world. Nelson Mandela was imprisoned for 27 years but became the president of South Africa.

From the above case studies it is important for each one of us to learn a lesson. We have more potential than we currently manifest. Ambrose Ongol in his book Live your purpose notes that an average person uses only 10% of his potential. The abuse of purpose is very evident in society. Ask yourself why a group of able bodied youths can plan to hit an innocent person with an iron bar so as to take their phone or property.. We can not redeem our country from evil if the mindsets of a section of the population is skewed to negative thinking . Why would a mother dump a baby in a pit latrine like a certain lady did in Kayunga District? Why would a suspected witch doctor murder two innocent children just because he wants to acquire wealth? Why would a youth fail to attend a capacity building seminar simply because they will not be provided with transport allowance? This same youth will get time to attend a football match. Why would a university graduate divert his or her tuition to gambling instead of paying tuition for his studies? Why would someone use his or her home as collateral in a casino and lose it all ?

The above questions are a pointer to the fact that each one of us has an infinite potential .Unfortunately we take it for granted and give away our power to the external world. We end up comparing ourselves with others who in the same way are admiring our potential. It is time to take up our space.

HOW TO MAXIMIZE OUR GOD GIVEN POTENTIAL

1. It starts with God. God is the source of our lives. To discover and maximize our potential we must ask God for direction.

2.Live with intention. Dr. John Maxwell encourages his readers in his book Intentional Living to live according to a clear purpose for their lives.

3.Get rid of fear. It is said that fear and doubt are the greatest enemies to human potential. The most successful people feel the fear and do it any way.

4.Associate with successful people. Birds of the same feathers flock together. We must look for high flyers if we are to maximize our God given potential.

According to Dr. Dennis Kimbro we are an acre of diamonds. Just because we do not know our potential is not an excuse for us to abuse it. We can literary astonish ourselves when we get rid of fear and doubt.
