WITH THE RIGHT MENTORSHIP EVERY PERSON IS CAPABLE OF CHANGING THEIR FINANCIAL CIRCUMSTANCES

 Every human being has an infinite potential. This secret is hidden in the so many books that I have read. By reading a financial book we are literally changing our financial destiny .Imagine reading a book written by President Donald Trump. It is a shortcut to speaking with him directly. Is it any wonder that people who have changed the world are readers? There is a big correlation between our access to information and the nature of financial decisions that we make. 

I have spent the last 5 years training grassroot youths about financial literacy and it has been an experience that has taught me that a person's life can literally change in a minute. When we intentionally enable the youths to access the right information they are bound to make the right financial decisions. A number of youths base their financial decisions on their peers. In this way many end up misusing their money on wrong priorities. In the New Vision of 24th May 2025 there was a headline that read that many youths in Uganda were addicted to gambling. It showed that many of these youths were in financial distress due to gambling and many had dropped out of school.

HOW TO MAKE THE RIGHT FINANCIAL CHOICES

1.Have long term financial vision

2.Create an emergency fund

3.Save as you earn

4.Seek financial mentorship

5. Automate savings

6.Stick to a budget

7. Live within your means.


Financial advancement is possible. Unfortunately we live in a generation that wants to become wealthy overnight. This has made countless youths to get into financial distress. With the right mentorship as explained above every person can change their financial trajectory.

A SAVINGS PLAN CAN AID IN FINANCIAL ADVANCEMENT

 I remember during the Trainer of Trainers training conducted by Bank of Uganda we were encouraged to develop a savings plan. This was a key development because without a plan we may live in financial darkness. WE CELEBRATE GRADUATION BUT AFTER THAT WHAT NEXT ?

 Uganda is officially dominated by young people. Over 50 %of the population are youths. With a high population the job market also shrinks yet people need to survive. It is the means of survival that create social pressure. The unemployment dilemma in the country can be dissected from different angles and each person or all stakeholders have a critical role to play.  Universities and other institutions of higher learning produce over 300,000 graduates per year.
