IT IS TIME WE RAISED OUR STANDARDS

 I read a statement from Tonny Robbins' book called Awaken the Giant Within. The statement read that each individual , company and nation has the capacity to raise their standards. This single statement has the potential to transform our lives for good. Why is it that some of our financial lives are in a mess while other peoples' lives seem to be on the right trajectory. It could simply be due to the standards that we have chosen to emulate.

In the last 5 years of providing financial literacy training I have seen countless lives transformed by the response to the knowledge acquire from the training. By deciding to live within their means I have seen many trainees giving testimonies of transformation in their individual lives. There was an example of a single mother who after a financial literacy training mobilized her fellow women to form a savings group. The group sought my expertise and I provided them with free financial literacy training. As we speak most of the members now have small businesses and they have a source of income. They are making better financial decisions because they chose to raise their standards. 

Many Africans have the potential to change their financial circumstances. Unfortunately they are exposed to wrong information. Many youths gamble their hard earned money away with the hope that the get rich schemes will grant them instant wealth. Many youths including university students divert their tuition to get rich schemes and some quit school. Until such youths choose to raise their standards they are likely to remain in financial darkness.

HOW TO RAISE STANDARDS IN PERSONAL FINANCE

1.Have clear financial vision.

2.Seek financial mentorship

3.Attend financial literacy trainings

4. Save as you earn

5.Join or form a master mind

6.Create an emergency fund 

7. Automate savings

8. Celebrate small wins.

 According to Dr. Dennis Kimbro in his book Think And Grow Rich  every human being is an acre of diamonds. In simple terms we have more potential than we can imagine. With adequate self reflection this statement can change any person's life. It is Dr. Myles Munroe who noted that without knowing our purpose on earth we are likely to lead a less impactful life. WE CELEBRATE GRADUATION BUT AFTER THAT WHAT NEXT ?

 Uganda is officially dominated by young people. Over 50 %of the population are youths. With a high population the job market also shrinks yet people need to survive. It is the means of survival that create social pressure. The unemployment dilemma in the country can be dissected from different angles and each person or all stakeholders have a critical role to play.  Universities and other institutions of higher learning produce over 300,000 graduates per year. The job creation rate is about 70,000 jobs per year. This means that the job market is narrow. It is a common sight to see over 100 applicants for one job.
