GOALS AID YOUTHS FROM DRIFTING

 Goal setting is one of the most important topics that can lift anyone from invisibility. We are essentially goal seeking creatures. The missing link inmost cases is clarity of our goals. Many people have a sketch of what they want to achieve but they lack clarity. It should be noted that the mind is a vacuum and without clear and meaningful goals we are likely to undermine our God given potential. The people who have left a permanent mark in life are ordinary people who refused to conform. As human we are wired for the path of least resistance. Therefore even goal setting is a practice that we are not used to. However the most productive leaders always have a clear to-do-list. The absence of meaningful goals explains why some university students waste their time at university.

I have met brilliant students who lacked clarity in studies and ended up underperforming. I have met students from good families who dropped out of school simply because of peer pressure and lack of clarity in goals. I know of two young boys who lost their lives to drugs. When it comes to finances clarity of goals is very critical. We have seen examples of men and women who lacked capital but because of clarity of purpose ended up with successful businesses. Clarity of goals enables one to budget before they spend. They are able to make wise financial decisions. Without a clear purpose or budget most youths spend to impress their peers and also fail to live within their means. Clearly written goals lead to clarity and inner peace.

HOW TO SET CLEAR MONEY GOALS.

1.Have a long term vision for your life.

2.Develop a budget.

3.Automate your savings

4.Save as you earn

5.Join a mastermind

6.Seek mentorship 

7.Review your goals

8. Live within your means

9.Create an emergency fund.


Goal setting is one of the secrets of productive people. We can learn a lot from setting meaningful goals as discussed above.

A SAVINGS PLAN CAN AID IN FINANCIAL ADVANCEMENT

 I remember during the Trainer of Trainers training conducted by Bank of Uganda we were encouraged to develop a savings plan. This was a key development because without a plan we may live in financial darkness. WE CELEBRATE GRADUATION BUT AFTER THAT WHAT NEXT ?

 Uganda is officially dominated by young people. Over 50 %of the population are youths. With a high population the job market also shrinks yet people need to survive. It is the means of survival that create social pressure. The unemployment dilemma in the country can be dissected from different angles and each person or all stakeholders have a critical role to play.  Universities and other institutions of higher learning produce over 300,000 graduates per year. The job creation rate is about 70,000 jobs per year. This means that the job market is narrow. It is a common sight to see over 100 applicants for one job.
