HOW DEVELOPING A POWERFUL MINDSET IS CRITICAL IN FINANCIAL ADVANCEMENT
Everyone desires financial success. Check the internet for one of the most common searches and the desire for wealth is one of the most significant. The question is, why is it that only 20% of the population owns 80% of the wealth? What enables the likes of Oprah Winfrey and Bill Gates to be immensely wealthy? Why is it that a number of university graduates are financially struggling yet we would assume that a university degree is a precursor to financial advancement? We all know of entrepreneurs who dropped out of school and own very successful businesses that are employing thousands of graduates.
I do not have all the answers to the above questions but in researching and observing rich and successful people one trait that separates them form the masses is that they intentionally develop their mindset. They believe in the beauty of their dreams. What makes the likes of Madhvani and Aghakan families maintain their wealth for many years while our businesses collapse within the first two years of establishment? Still there are many factors to explain this but I want to point out that mindset plays a critical part in the equation.
I want to dwell on the importance of a growth mindset. The growth mindset has a curious perspective. It does not allow current circumstances to define their destiny. As a financial literacy trainer I normally challenge my trainees to develop a long term projection of their businesses. Many businesses collapse because they have a short term horizon. This means the entrepreneurs will not be focused on developing long term strategies for business expansion.
HOW TO DEVELOP A STRONG MINDSET
1.Think long term
2.Associate with successful people
3.Read widely
4.Be grateful for what you have
5.Set clear goals
6.Develop a long term vision
7.Celebrate small wins
8.Focus on the good
9.Accept feedback
10.Act on your goals.
The mind plays a critical role in either aiding success or failure in life. What we choose to dwell on is our individual responsibility. Since there are entrepreneurs that started off broke and are now successful it gives us hope that we can also accomplish much when we choose to dwell on constructive thoughts.
