DO YOU NEED PERMISSION TO PURSUE GREATNESS?

The internet is busy with countless number of people who want to improve their lives. One of the most important aspirations of human beings is that they want to improve their lives. In his great book Think and Grow Rich : A Black Choice, Dr. Dennis Kimbro cites various examples of Black Americans who were born in poor families and today are some of the most influential people in the world. A case in point was Dr. Washington Carver who developed over100 patents of sweet potatoes. He was born by an American slave to the extent that he read on candle. This did not deter him from pursuing his dream. Another example is Dr. Ben Carson who was born in a poor family but his mother believed in him. He is credited for having separated the Siamese twins .

The above stories should inspire us that no matter our circumstances we should never give up on our dreams. There is someone who is waiting for permission to pursue their dreams. It is said that it takes ten positive statements to uproot one negative statement from the mind. The mind is the greatest inhibitor to greatness. There are medical students who think that they are not good enough yet by any standards any student who is pursuing medicine is brilliant(power of self image). There is someone who has declined applying for a job because he or she thinks that it has already been taken(power of self sabotage). We always get new opportunities every day but some times our "wrong "thinking stops us from attempting to dare great things. So many students join wrong groups because they fear peer pressure. It must be noted that society is transformed by people who believe in the beauty of their dreams.

As humans we always fear change( we prefer comfort). You must be your cheer leader before others acknowledge your efforts. If you wait for the majority it might be too late. It took almost 40 years for Uganda to win another gold medal after the one won by John Akibua . If  Kiprotich waited for permission he would not have made headlines.

The word greatness is scary. That is why many avoid talking about it. In fact some view it with contempt. However a right diagnosis of what greatness means to us will motivate us to seek it as discussed above.
