GETTING LOST IN THE MASSES

 When a person reads Dr. Dennis Kimbro's book Think And Grow Rich : A black choice, he or she will be forced to rethink about their potential. In this book Dr. Kimbro gives examples of black Americans who were born in poor families but did not allow this to define them. A case in point was Dr. Benjamin Carson who was raised by a single mother but the mother had hopes in his son and did not give up on him. That is why mothers are great leaders in society. This is because they shape our destiny. From being the last in class to becoming a neurosurgeon it gives us hope in the power of human potential.

As a coach I have had the privilege of interacting with so many youths who have given up on their dreams .I have seen youths who have got lost in the masses. They have literally given their power away. In a nation where the population is predominantly youth, the resignation to fate is "unacceptable". The youths must be turned into a blessing rather than a curse. Most youths would prefer the path of least resistance. This explains why some opt for crime instead of hard work. A certain youth was killed by a mob for gunning down a prominent businessman in town . Also in the news I saw a photo or an article where the police  rounded up several youths who were suspected to be involved in crime. So this paints a picture of why youth mentorship is very critical.

5.Avoid instant gratification

6.Associate with successful people

10.Have a positive attitude

11.Develop personal confidence


Every human being has a unique contribution to the world. Unfortunately many youths are characterized by self comparisons which diminishes their value. It is our individual responsibility to discover and manifest our God given potential. We should not allow our individual gifts to get lost in the masses.

A SAVINGS PLAN CAN AID IN FINANCIAL ADVANCEMENT

 I remember during the Trainer of Trainers training conducted by Bank of Uganda we were encouraged to develop a savings plan. This was a key development because without a plan we may live in financial darkness. CELEBRATE YOUR VALUE ON THIS LABOR DAY

As we celebrate International Labor Day,70% of Uganda's population is below the age of 30 years. One of the biggest challenges of youths is access to dignified employment opportunities. So many youths have lost in their ability to find work and we have seen cases where they commit crime in order to survive. A case in point is a clip I saw on social media where a man who had panga cut innocent children after asking for a ransom from the parents . Such tragic incidents show us that lack of access to dignified employment opportunities makes people lose their sense of value.
