SELF DOUBT : A KEY ENEMY TO PERSONAL PROGRESS

 I will not get that job is a statement that a certain graduate made recently. This statement is characterized by doubt. Brian Tracy in his great book The 100 Absolutely Unbreakable Laws of Business Success noted that doubt and fear are the greatest enemies of success. In his book, Think and Grow Rich : A Black Choice, Dr Dennis Kimbro gives numerous examples of black Americans who were born in poor homes but today are shaping the world. They lived in harder circumstances than we are living in .Today we have a lot of support services that can enable us to achieve our dreams but we tend to undermine them. Why would a youth decide to gun down a prominent businessman? Why would a person murder two innocent children as it happened in Kiboga District where a suspected witch doctor killed two children. Why would a person murder a fellow brother like it was reported in the news paper of a young man who beheaded his brother because they promised him wealth.

Doubt and fear are the two greatest enemies to personal success. It is reported that there are university students who gamble their tuition . There are other youths who fear to join associations that can add value to them. But such decisions count in adult life. At the interview panel they many not ask which premier league team you support but they are likely to ask the youth the value that they have added to humanity with their skills. So many youths have skills but they have self imposed limitations. They fear to step out and be heard. 

HOW TO OVERCOME SELF DOUBT.

1.Have faith in God

2.Believe in your own value and uniqueness

3. Avoid self comparisons

4.Act on your beliefs 

5.Share your opinions 

6.Associate with successful people

7.Use your skills to serve humanity

8.Embrace lifelong learning


Every person seeks to be successful. However the enemies of self doubt and fear prevent us from progress. As shown above we hold immense power to achieve success and it is our personal responsibility.

A SAVINGS PLAN CAN AID IN FINANCIAL ADVANCEMENT

 I remember during the Trainer of Trainers training conducted by Bank of Uganda we were encouraged to develop a savings plan. This was a key development because without a plan we may live in financial darkness. CELEBRATE YOUR VALUE ON THIS LABOR DAY

As we celebrate International Labor Day,70% of Uganda's population is below the age of 30 years. One of the biggest challenges of youths is access to dignified employment opportunities. So many youths have lost in their ability to find work and we have seen cases where they commit crime in order to survive. A case in point is a clip I saw on social media where a man who had panga cut innocent children after asking for a ransom from the parents . Such tragic incidents show us that lack of access to dignified employment opportunities makes people lose their sense of value.
