EVERY YOUTH CAN DO SOMETHING CONSTRUCTIVE
Statistics show that over 70% of Ugandans are below the age of 30 years. One of the biggest challenges that young people face is youth unemployment. The increase in crime has been attributed to the rising numbers of unemployed and underemployed youths. Most youths are only looking for ways of "surviving" .
If the majority of the population is only looking at short term means to survive then how will Uganda develop? Despite the high rates of unemployment the youths in Uganda can be nurtured to be productive. Statistics reveal that Uganda is one of the most entrepreneurial countries in the world. This is a strength that we can capitalize on to enable young people to become catalysts of positive transformation .
HOW TO MAKE YOUTHS PRODUCTIVE
1. Have a sense of purpose. That youth who was killed after murdering a prominent businessman did not have a clear sense of purpose.
2.The youths should have long term plans instead of devising short term means for survival
3.Mentorship and coaching. Successful youths require to be guided by seasoned leaders who can show them the correct path to take.
