WE NEED A NEW ATTITUDE TOWARDS FINANCIAL ADVANCEMENT IN 2025

 A brand new year is a season of new beginnings. However we need to be careful how we approach life in the new year. It is easy to enter the new year with an old mindset and it will upset our progress. If we hold on what failed in the old year no matter what we do in the new year will not succeed. Our mind plays a very critical factor in ensuring our success. If we focus on the negative side of life we are likely to achieve negative results. 

Each and every person is full of potential. But those who excel in life are those who make intentional decisions that despite their imperfections they will choose to do the right things so that they can alter their lives. Life presents a lot of opportunities but the key question is are we ready for them. The youths have plenty of opportunities but I have interacted with a number of them who confess that they do not see the opportunities. One of the biggest challenges that the youths face is that they want ready made job opportunities yet they are scarce. We have plenty of frustrated youths who are waiting for external help yet within themselves they have a lot of potential. Our challenge as leaders is to encourage the youths to "wake up" and use the various skills and opportunities that they have.

Most of the now global companies started as business ideas and the owners were visionaries who kept building their dreams and today these companies are employing thousands of people. A case in point is Equity Bank which started as a building society and today it is a financial conglomerate with over 15 million customers and impacting lives. So in each one of us there is a seed of greatness if we only believe that we can make a positive difference in the lives of others. There are plenty of women and youths groups which have a lot of potential to scale but they lack technical guidance on how to scale . 

Our attitude in 2025 should seek to improve our financial lives. We can only pick lessons learnt from our financial setbacks. The mind is capable of a lot but many times we choose to dwell on disempowering beliefs. Surprisingly the same effort that we use to focus on the negative is the same effort that we need to design strategies on how we can make better savings. If we had  an attitude that spending all we have will enable us to be popular with our colleagues perhaps it is high time we discarded that belief system.

HOW TO MAKE WISER MONEY CHOICES IN 2025

1.Have a clear financial vision.

2.Save as you earn

3.Set clear financial goals

4. Develop a budget

5.Live within your means

6.Seek financial mentorship

7.Be a continuous learner


Attitude determines altitude. That is a life changing statement. Attitude is not physical but it determines most of the choices that we make. Perhaps the previous year was full of financial setbacks. However we should not allow the previous setbacks to define our potential. we can do better in 2025 with empowering beliefs.

THRIVING AMIDST UNEMPLOYMENT

 Ask any graduate what their worst night mare is and they will inform you that lack of access to a dignified employment opportunity is a big hurdle. Over 70% of Ugandans are below the age of 30 years of age. There are very many reasons why the unemployment rate needs to be addressed. Uganda has over 30 universities and all universities graduate over 300,000 graduates per year yet the formal sector produces on average 70,000 jobs. This mismatch is an indicator of the frustrations that the young people face. WE CELEBRATE GRADUATION BUT AFTER THAT WHAT NEXT ?

 Uganda is officially dominated by young people. Over 50 %of the population are youths. With a high population the job market also shrinks yet people need to survive. It is the means of survival that create social pressure. The unemployment dilemma in the country can be dissected from different angles and each person or all stakeholders have a critical role to play.  Universities and other institutions of higher learning produce over 300,000 graduates per year.
