HOW A LEARNING MINDSET IS RELATED TO FINANCIAL ADVANCEMENT

During my coaching class I was always trained by my tutor to have a learning mindset. This seems to be a very important life lesson. We all have areas of improvement. Unfortunately we are never aware of them or we ignore them. This can hinder our progress. It is even worse among the elite. Sometimes we have been blamed for over analyzing issues. As a financial literacy practitioner I have had a privilege of listening to so many  people's experiences regarding their financial journey. It is a humbling experience to see someone who started with their savings to start and grow a business. Did we know that there are other people who have a lot of money but they do not have the ideas where to invest the money. That is how strange the world is. 

No body has all the answers to money issues. Money is a strange subject that if we take it lightly it may shock us. We have seen billionaires become bankrupt overnight. We have seen stock markets crash even after "market experts" predicting otherwise. This brings in the issue of embracing a learning mindset. A learning mindset enables a person never to settle. They know that every day is for self improvement. A learning mindset enables us to always be curious and asking questions and knowing that we do not have all the answers. We are living at odd times where everything is changing at a very fast rate. It means we can never afford to be comfortable. We have been guilty as adults of settling for what we know. We need to be intentional in intensifying our curiosity. 

HOW TO RAISE OUR LEARNING MINDSET

1. Have a curious mindset

2.Hire a coach/ mentor

3.Join groups that challenge us to share knowledge

4. Learn about investments

5.Read news papers

6.Associate with people that are ahead of you

7. Be humble

8. Celebrate small wins

9.Learn from investments

10.Avoid get rich schemes

11.Be open to learning


Nothing is permanent in life. We have seen billionaires collapse. We have seen entrepreneurs who started from zero and today they are multimillionaires. The key is to embrace a curious mindset.

A SAVINGS PLAN CAN AID IN FINANCIAL ADVANCEMENT

 I remember during the Trainer of Trainers training conducted by Bank of Uganda we were encouraged to develop a savings plan. This was a key development because without a plan we may live in financial darkness. WE CELEBRATE GRADUATION BUT AFTER THAT WHAT NEXT ?

 Uganda is officially dominated by young people. Over 50 %of the population are youths. With a high population the job market also shrinks yet people need to survive. It is the means of survival that create social pressure. The unemployment dilemma in the country can be dissected from different angles and each person or all stakeholders have a critical role to play.  Universities and other institutions of higher learning produce over 300,000 graduates per year.
