DO NOT UNDERMINE YOUR KNOWLEDGE: IT IS A GOLD MINE TO WEALTH CREATION

I read about Professor Augustus Nuwagaba of Reev Consult about the fortune and impact that he has made out of his knowledge. His story appeared in the New Vision of 9th September 2024 . It got me reflecting on the number of graduates whom I have interacted with and they are looking for jobs ( I acknowledge that there are few jobs to integrate all the graduates) but Iam just trying to make the reader appreciate that even in the wave of job scarcity something can be done. Interestingly many university graduates have started to use their skills to start their own enterprises and we salute them.

The importance of amassing knowledge is not to look for jobs but to create jobs. According to Ambrose Kibuuka in  his book After University What Next, he challenges today's youth to reexamine their beliefs about education. We are not mandated to just look at our academic transcripts and admire the CGPA but rather to challenge ourselves to ensure that we use the acquired knowledge to solve society's problems.

We must ask ourselves the question, why are we studying? This question will challenge us to think differently from the rest of society . Do you realize that great inventions have been made by people who challenge the status quo. Bill Gates dropped out of Harvard and formed Microsoft. Today he is a trail blazer.

Some times the desire for instant riches has made many young people o give up on their dreams. But let us look at companies that have shaped the world. They were formed by visionaries who had a long term perspective to life. There are youths who divert their tuition to gambling and we term this as not knowing life's priorities.

HOW TO MAKE USE OF ACQUIRED KNOWLEDGE

1.Have a clear purpose for your life

2.Embrace life long learning

3.Develop clear values

4.Use the knowledge that you possess to serve humanity

5.Volunteer your skills

6.Identify successful role models

7.Get a mentor or coach

8.Focus on service more than money

9.Act on your dreams

10.Share knowledge

Knowledge is power. We live in an information era. For those that have valued their acquired knowledge as intellectual capital they will always be successful. Knowledge should not be wasted.
