SUCCEEDING WHERE OTHERS HAVE "FAILED"

No one wants to fail. Failure is such a dreaded word especially in adult life. Actually when one fails as an adult, he or she is likely to be castigated. But when we were still children while learning to walk we were motivated to persist through failure. So what happens when we grow up. Fear takes over and we question every attempt that we make. Iam not supporting failure but rather trying to advocate for a change of perception about failure . A close analysis of the most prominent entrepreneurs such as Thomas Edison, the Wright Brothers who invented the plane is that they all failed at a certain point. It seems to a successful person failure is an opportunity to learn and become a better person.

In coaching we are trained that each individual holds a lot of potential. But unfortunately many people take their potential lightly. They tend to compare themselves with other people and end up burying their dreams. Dr. Myles Munroe noted that the cemetery is the wealthiest place on earth simply because all songs and unbuilt companies lie there.

So a change in perception about failure is a key ingredient in the journey to success. As adults we have a wrong perception to failure . If Bill Gates who dropped out of Harvard to build Microsoft was in Africa chances are high that he would have given up on his dream and we would have missed out on his company. So many youths hold great dreams but the wrong perception of fear makes them to fear to seek for help. The mind holds the greatest keys to our wealth. We should encourage the youths to step out boldly and maximize their potential.

HOW TOOVERCOME THE FEAR OF FAILURE

1.Have a big vision for your life.

2.Write down your goals

3.Associate with successful people

4.Embrace life long learning

5.Start small but think big

6.Raise your standards

7.Seek advise from mentors and coaches

8.Develop the discipline of gratitude

We all want to succeed but the fear of failure overwhelms the majority of us. From the above examples we see that the fear of failure can be overcome.
